Brooke Ebel

BEbel Portrait.jpg

Brooke Ebel is the creator of a unique style of oil painting she calls Mosaic Oils.  By breaking her subject down into geometric “light cells” and applying oil paint in high relief, she creates mosaic-like works of dramatic light, color, and texture.

Since she was a child, art has been a fascination in Brooke’s life.  Early on she was intrigued by vibrant color and the unique properties of oil paints. Although she has worked in various mediums, her first love continues to be oils.  Years ago, while touring Spain, she was captivated by that country’s intricate patterns of mosaics, which inspired her distinct artistic technique.

Brooke’s work has been sold to private collectors around the country and appeared in local exhibitions including The Lone Tree Arts Center, The Wildlife Experience Museum, Deep Space Gallery and Denver Botanic Gardens. Her work was also featured at Fat Tail Gallery and Space Gallery in Denver’s Santa Fe art district. Brooke creates artwork from her home studio in Parker, Colorado, surrounded by majestic Ponderosa pines, wild turkeys, deer and other wildlife. Most days you can find her painting in an old pair of overalls she’s owned since the Clinton administration. With all the years of wear and tear and repair, the overalls themselves have become a great work of art.

Brooke was born in the beautiful big sky country of Montana and grew up in the warm tropics of South Florida. After living in Tallahassee, Florida (where she attended Florida State University – go Seminoles!) Clearwater, Florida and Conway, Arkansas – she could no longer resist the lure of the mountains and returned again to the west, where she has made her home in Colorado since 1993.
