The Artists

Colette Brooks
Experiencing the ambiance and absolute beauty of Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, and Switzerland, Colette felt compelled to paint what she fell in love with. Her painting process starts with an emotional connection with the image and begins on an appropriate size canvas. Her award winning style has landed her commissioned paintings of Europe, pet portraits, and Colorado landscapes. She’s also been called upon to jury several exhibits. Colette is the featured artist in the 2006 November issue of North Light Book Club magazine as the ‘Member of the Issue’. “It is when we, as artists, connect with our Divine maker’s intention, finally realize the purpose of what we’re doing. I’m on a path meant to be and will stay the course.” Artist Website

Anne Crane
Anne Crane, photographer and artist, was born in the remote Eskimo town of Bethel, Alaska, and raised in the small community of Chugiak, Alaska. Her interest in photography started at a young age as she observed her father’s zeal for photography.
An appreciation and respect for nature and the environment is inherent in Anne as she was fortunate to grow up in Alaska. The land, mountains, trees, and waters of Alaska are simply described as “The Great Land,” and to be honest, unequaled anywhere. Anne had a hard time leaving the mountains and the snow of Alaska, so she chose a similar locale to raise her family. She now resides in Littleton, Colorado, where she continues to be inspired by the amazing vistas of the Rocky Mountains.
Anne has always had a fascination and rapport with the landscape. Her individual perspective of our earth and the activities that abound around her will hopefully inspire you to capture the spirit of the land in your personal world.

Richard W. Dean
When Richard attended language school in France, he fell in love with the architecture of the cafés he saw on every corner of the Latin Quarter. A professional musician all his life, and with no formal training in art, he plunged head first into painting in oils the images of Paris that so charmed and fascinated him. It was a good place to begin, and now he has embraced a subject that he knows well: the passion of artists and their instruments, whether they be musicians, dancers, or athletes. Artist Website

Erica Hollander
Erica Hollander is a lawyer, Ph.D., psychodramatist, and a teacher who took up painting and drawing in the great Denver blizzard of 2003. After being housebound for a week or more, she found that painting, which she had not tried since she was a child, had simply captured her imagination. She now works in watercolor, ink, pastel and acrylics. Her aim is to generate what might be called emotional resonance in the viewer, and she tends to use direct statement, and strong color and line to try to achieve that. Among her favorite subjects are people, landscapes, and animals. She will work with a client to try to make an image both she and the client enjoy. Artist Email

Karen Kennedy
Karen Kennedy was born in Denver and originally studied Commercial Art. Later, while living in Springfield, Missouri, she gravitated to Fine Art. Karen continued her art education studying with four professional artists in life drawing, sculpture, and oil painting. The numerous critiques of her paintings by Greg Theiland, curator of the Springfield Art Museum, advanced her expertise in composition and color.
During this time, Karen developed her own business by painting for exhibitions, commissions, and offering instruction. Her paintings hang in numerous private collections in eight states.
Karen’s painting is inspired by the beauty that she sees at home in Roxborough Park and in her travels. Her realistic style of painting endeavors to capture the surprise of “that one special moment in time”. She accepts commissions for portraiture, wildlife, and landscape paintings in either oil or acrylics.

Maryann Leake
"I flunked watercolor in college. I have worked hard to prove that teacher wrong ever-since. Edwin Leake, my grandfather, an artist, introduced me to the possibility of being an artist." Maryann's artwork mainly encompasses four areas of design: Nest, Floral, Koi and Roxborough. Each having a philosophical theme telling the relationship of man and God. She is a signature member of Colorado Watercolor Society. She has been exhibiting her work consistently throughout Colorado. Her latest commissions are for children's books. "I married my high school steady, Mark Baisley. We are living in Roxborough Park where my studio is visited by my children and grandchildren and two border collies." Artist Website

Jennifer Riefenberg
I am a photographer and painter. I restrict many of my photographs to a particular, large, limited size and I prefer to work in black and white, though I certainly shoot color. As a painter, I only sell original paintings– no glicee’, silkscreen, prints, or other copies of my work. Though dilution of artwork through mass copy is usually driven by economics, I believe in retaining the integrity of the art as a rare beauty. The prices may be a bit higher at times – but the artwork is more precious. You can be assured that you will have something unique. Please enjoy your visit to my website and feel free to contact me for commission work.

Steve Schader
Born a Colorado native raised in St. Louis, Missouri, I have always known I was going to be an artist. I have always loved "fine art" but was also drawn to "commercial" art. Currently, I work freelance out of the studio in my house, creating images (illustration, brochures, logos, postcards, promotional pieces, etc.) for companies locally and nationally.

My passion for drawing began around the age of 8. Even through high school and college, my teachers encouraged me to draw every day... and for the most part, I still do. I sketch all my ideas out before converting them to finished pieces. Most of my fine art work is either colored pencils, or watercolor... my two favorite mediums. When creating a piece, I genereally lean towards nature. I love the outdoors, wildlife, and monumental natural beauty. Artist Website

Jerry Van
Jerry Van grew up in Lakewood, Colorado the oldest of 4 brothers. His irrepressible urge to draw the things that interested him, even with minimal formal art education, has steered him gradually toward the success he is just now beginning to enjoy as a painter. After the Air Force and years of commercial painting, Jerry seriously began a career in art, working in fine art foundries in the early 80's, first in Loveland then in Santa Fe. Building armatures for well-known and highly successful sculptors only stoked his desire to find his own creative voice. In 1999, a classically trained painter from Romania, Laila Ionesco, let him watch her for about an hour, and then set up a still life for him to paint. Surprised by the joy of the experience and Ionesco's guidance, Jerry was also encouraged by the prompt sale of his first oil painting. He began painting more and doing less foundry work. A combination of good guidance and his prior drawing experience made him a natural. Jerry Van has painted full-time for the past 7 years, selling steadily via referral from collectors and other informal channels. Artist Website
